MeteoSwiss is part of the Federal Department of Home Affairs FDHA and belongs to the so-called 2nd circle of the Federal administration.

 

As one of the first MGM offices (Management by Performance Mandate and Global Budget) MeteoSwiss has been market-driven since 1997 and has geared its services towards the needs of the general public and other customers.


The Federal Law on Meteorology and Climatology governs duties, responsibilities, basic services, additional services, cooperations and participations, participation in international programmes, tendering services to third parties and operations. These are the tasks that the Federal Government has entrusted to the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss.

 

The Ordinance on Meteorology and Climatology governs the implementation of the Federal Law and establishes the applicable fees.
