Content of radiosonde: Instruments measuring temperature, humidity and GPS position (to determine pressure and wind components), as well as telemetry transmitter system and batteries.
The radiosonde, which is attached to a balloon, is launched twice a day from Payerne. Vertical profiles of temperature, humidity, pressure and wind components are measured and transmitted in real-time to the ground station.
The balloon bursts at an altitude of about 35 km. This ends the measurements and the radiosonde descends with a parachute to the ground.
